Started life as a literal YouTube-vs-Ad-Blocker gag from artist @madebytio back in 2021, then exploded into one of the internet's favorite object-labeling formats. A happy little green rectangle is minding its own business, humming a tune, when one buff guy shows up... then recruits a buddy... and together they absolutely wreck it.
The four-panel structure is what makes it endlessly reusable: innocent thing, first threat appears, threat gets backup, pile-on beatdown. Label the box as anything that thought it was safe, and the two guys as whatever teamed up to ruin its day — algorithms, deadlines, bills, in-laws, you name it.
